Ariana Grande Up There With Bill Cosby On Disliked Celebs Listby Ali Szubiak | PopCrush
The latest Q Scores have been released, and if you don’t know what that means, it’s an independently evaluated means of ranking the popularity — or the unpopularity — of celebrities in the United States. The Hollywood Reporter took things a step further by averaging the past two years’ worth of Q scores together to create a definitive list of the Top 10 stars who have managed the biggest falls from grace within public opinion. Still with us?
While it seems like a list like this could provide at least a modicum of entertainment (after all, there’s no bond more solidifying than the collective hatred of a public figure), there are a few glaring issues with it.
You have generally harmless celebrities like NeNe Leakes, Miley Cyrus, Judy Reyes, Ariana Grande and Washington Redskins player Robert Griffin III on it — all of whom have, admittedly, enraged the public in some way over the past few years, mostly for minor infractions. But they share the Top 10 with actual terrible people like the racist Paula Deen, indicted child-abuser Adrian Peterson and admitted drugger of women Bill Cosby.
Ariana Grande came in at No. 2, and comparing her bratty, unpatriotic behavior to that of accused rapist Cosby is, frankly, repulsive. Sure, she contaminated some donuts with her pop star saliva, and maybe she uses childhood obesity as the most unconvincing scapegoat in all of eternity — she should feel bad about doing those things. But Bill Cosby allegedly drugged and raped well over 40 women — the two do not belong on the same list.
Perhaps the worst part of The Hollywood Reporter’s findings, however, is that both Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber have someone managed higher negative scores than all of the above, meaning they’re both more publicly hated than, again, an alleged serial rapist. Yes, “mathematically” these are their findings, and it’s hard to compete with two celebrities who have been so widely lambasted by the public for longer than Cosby has, but the entire list becomes unsettling with the inclusion of people who have done far worse than glorify being vacuous and self-involved.
