Watch a Young Bobbi Kristina Brown Join Her Mother, Whitney Houston, On Stageby Matthew Scott Donnelly | PopCrush
They say where words fail, music speaks, and in the case of Bobbi Kristina Brown, who died Sunday night (July 26) three years after her mother, Whitney Houston, was found dead, a melody makes for a beautiful eulogy.
In the YouTube video above, which fans and supporters have begun to treat as Brown’s digital funereal guestbook (“He is our refuge and strength. An ever present help in times of trouble. Praying for Bobbi. Miss Whitney,” one user notes), Houston welcomes a young Brown up to the stage during an off-the-cuff tribute to Jesus and proceeds to offer affection only a mother could.
“Mommy loves you girl, you don’t have to worry about a thing, ’cause I’m standing right by your side,” Houston sings to her daughter, who wraps her arms around Houston’s legs with a vice grip. The performance comes from a 1997 set in Washington, D.C. Brown would later sing with her mother on stage during a performance of 1998’s “My Love is Your Love” (featured below).
Brown was found unresponsive in a bathtub in January. Doctors induced a coma and put her on a ventilator before she was moved to a rehab facility, and, in June, to a hospice.
“She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months,” the Brown family said in a statement given to ET.
