Bruce Jenner Makes Debut as Caitlyn Jenner in ‘Vanity Fair’by Samantha Vincenty | PopCrush
Bruce Jenner would like you to meet Caitlyn.
As previously reported, the former Olympian had decided to officially debut as his female self on the cover of Vanity Fair, photographed by the renowned Annie Leibovitz. Today (June 1), we get our first look at Caitlyn. And frankly, she looks great! Jenner also looks proud, relaxed and happy in her new identity — which was a very long time coming, according to the Keeping Up With the Kardashians costar’s April interview with Diane Sawyer.
Vanity Fair contributing editor Buzz Bissinger wrote the cover story and according to the magazine, the writer was “given unfettered access to Jenner and her family, chronicles the tensions, traumas, and courage that shaped Caitlyn into the woman you see today.” Leibovitz’s glamorous shots of Caitlyn, which feature some Old Hollywood-style cream lingerie, were taken at her house in Malibu.
Jenner echoed some of the sentiments she voiced in the earlier 20/20 special, telling Bissinger, “If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, ‘You just blew your entire life.’” In a behind-the-scenes look at the photo shoot Caitlyn further opens up about hiding her transgender identity for so many years: “Bruce always had to tell a lie […] Caitlyn doesn’t have any secrets.” You can watch the video, courtesy of VanityFair.com, below.
The issue hits newsstands on June 9. As for Caitlyn — and that’s “Caitlyn,” NOT “Kaitlyn” with a K, thankyouverymuch — you can welcome her to Twitter as of today.
I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can't wait for you to get to know her/me.
