Chris Brown Rejects Plea Deal in Assault Caseby Mandi Salerno | PopCrush
Chris Brown appeared in court today for his assault case, where he rejected a plea deal in favor of going to trial.
Last October, the 25-year-old singer allegedly punched a 20-year-old fan, Parker Isaac Adams, outside of the W Hotel in Washington, D.C. He and his bodyguard Chris Hollosy were arrested and charged with a felony assault, which was later lowered to a misdemeanor assault.
Still, Breezy landed in jail for the incident, as he was on probation from his 2009 assault case involving his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. He was sentenced to one year in jail for the violation, though he received credit for 234 days of time already served, leaving him with 131 days leftover. After consideration, he was released early.
Today Breezy had to return to court, where he refused the assault charge, according to E! News. He rejected the deal that would keep him out of jail if he pleaded guilty, after prosecutors and his attorneys weren’t able to agree on a statement of what happened at the hotel.
“They wanted him to read from a script that wasn’t true,” Chris’ attorney Mark Geragos said.
The case will now go to trial, currently set for Sept. 8.
