Chris Pine Says Working With Lindsay Lohan Years Ago ‘Was a Real Cyclone of Insanity’by Karen Lanza | PopCrush
Chris Pine, her co-star in the 2006 film, reveals what it was like working with the then-18-year-old superstar. “It was a real cyclone of insanity, like being around the Beatles,” he tells the Hollywood Reporter.
Lohan, fresh off her massive hit ‘Mean Girls,’ had already been famous for years, after standout roles in ‘Freaky Friday’ and ‘The Parent Trap.’ Her behavior on the New Orleans set forecast a future of trouble with the law, substance abuse and years of tabloid headlines. “It was fascinating to watch,” Pine adds, “and in hindsight it’s really a distinct moment in someone’s life when you see what’s really wonderful about what we get to do and what’s really dangerous about it.”
Lohan’s troubles have unfortunately continued. In the last month alone, she is alleged to have instigated a beatdown of Barron Hilton and was rumored to be “hot mess” at the Art Basel festival in Miami.
Meanwhile, ‘Star Trek’ star Pine has averted the same sort of problems as his career has heated up and surpassed LiLo’s — a strange coincidence considering the reversal-of-fortune plot of ‘Just My Luck.’ But maybe that’s because he has a clear image of what life in the industry is about.
“Hollywood is like living in a weird bubble,” the 33-year-old says. “A bunch of people take care of you and get you stuff, and you’re the center of that little microcosmic world. You start believing that it is real and … you deserve it.”
