Christy Carlson Romano is opening up about her former ‘Even Stevens’ co-star Shia LaBeouf in the wake of his recent eyebrow-raising behavior.

Romano played Ren Stevens, LaBeouf’s character’s Louis’ older sister on the Disney Channel hit series, and recently spoke with Fox News about her former co-star, as well as her feelings on Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez.

Though she admits she is no longer in contact with LaBeouf — whose latest bout of bizarre behavior culminated in him being arrested for disorderly conduct at a Broadway show — she thinks that he will be “fine” and the media will be “very forgiving.”

“I think he’s such a talented person; I think he’s gonna be fine. Men seem to be able to come through of whatever they have going on publicly much easier than female actresses or female people do,” she explained. “I think that the media and people will be very forgiving. He’s just so talented too that I think that everyone will be able to push forward through whatever it is that he’s going through in the future too.”

But still, she was quick to remind us that she’s not sure how much water her opinion holds.

“But then again, what do I know?” she asked. “I’m not exactly an expert, I’m just somebody who knew him at the time that I knew him for, you know?” Fair point.

Romano, who fans also remember as the voice of the titular character on ‘Kim Possible’ and co-starring with Hilary Duff in the Disney Channel Original Movie ‘Cadet Kelly,’ also recalled the pranks that she and LaBeouf pulled on each other on set.

“I put a fart machine on the bottom of his chair during a close-up, and he did not appreciate that,” she laughed, recalling her attempt to “haze” LaBeouf. “Him and his dad were best pals at the time. His dad was his chaperone on set, so he TP-ed my dressing room while we were in a scene together … and it was completely TP-ed with toilet paper. And I said, ‘Okay, I can’t play with the boys. They’re obviously going to punch back harder.'”

Romano also touched on how difficult former Disney stars like Miley and Selena have it now, dealing with constant scrutiny and paparazzi.

“My heart goes out to the Miley Cyruses, the Selena Gomezes that I see are young and trying to live their lives. Your twenties are not an easy time. You’re experimenting and trying to find your tribe, so to speak,” she explained. “And it’s hard to see them going through it because I’m sure there’s some suffering there, but everyone figures it out one way or another.”
