Coldplay to Perform at the 2016 Super Bowl 50 Half Time Showby Samantha Vincenty | PopCrush
Coldplay fans, get excited — doubly excited if you’re a football fan, too: The British rock band will perform in 2016’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, NFL sources tell US Weekly.
Super Bowl 50 is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, while the quartet’s A Head Full Of Dreams will be available on December 4. That means you’ll have two whole months to memorize the new songs they’ll work into their probable hits medley. While additional performers have yet to be announced, it’s likely they won’t be alone onstage. It’s rare for any halftime performer to go it solo; Beyonce was briefly joined by her former Destiny’s Child members back in 2013, Missy Elliott surprised viewers during Katy Perry’s 2015 halftime show and Bruno Mars shared a stage with the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2014.
Speaking of Mars, reports surfaced back in September that the NFL had asked the performer if he’d return for 2016’s event. He did agree to “curate” the show, according to Billboard, though whether we’ll hear “Uptown Funk” live on game day remains to be seen.
Stay tuned for further Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show updates…
