Donald Trump and His Hair to Host SNL, With Sia Performingby Samantha Vincenty | PopCrush
Donald Trump will host Saturday Night Live on November 7, NBC has announced. If you loathe the reality star-turned-presidential candidate but have a weakness for expertly-crafted pop, you should also know that Sia is the musical guest.
Fellow Oval Office hopefully Hillary Clinton delivered a Trump impression in her very solid turn in an SNL skit in the season’s premiere. Will he attempt to give back as good as he got? We’ll find out in just a few weeks. Cast member Cecily Strong will definitely reprise her Melenia Trump impression, with Taran Killam donning a wig for some type of “TWO Trumps!” sketch.
Trump told the Hollywood Reporter back in August that SNL had actually asked him to post earlier, but he had to decline due to other conflicts. It’s unclear whether that was before or after the fallout Trump’s comments about illegal Mexican immigrants caused NBCUniversal to ice their partnership with Trump and cancel their broadcast of the Miss Universe pageant, which the real estate bigwig owns. Guess he’s made peace with the network — or they’ve decided Trump’s just too big of an entertainment draw to pass up.
So, how is Trump’s comic timing, when he isn’t serving up mean-spirited jabs that a segment of folks find more amusing than they actually are? He already hosted the show back in 2004 (with Jamaican band Toots and the Maytals, because SNL musical guests used to be much more genre-diverse). You can watch him put in a game effort in the below sketch with Seth Meyers, in which he plays a disinterested dad. Like many SNL hosts with a non-Hollywood day job (athletes especially), he leans heavily on the cue cards. It also features a downright fetal Jimmy Fallon, who breaks character alongside Horatio Sans like always.
