Donald Trump Sues Univision For Hefty Sum After It Dumps Miss Universe Pageantby Matthew Scott Donnelly | PopCrush
Donald Trump has proven he’s got no problem saying “You’re fired!” As for hearing the sentiment? Well, that’s a different story.
Since announcing his candidacy for the Presidency of the United States in a speech that likened Mexican immigrants to rapists, drug-dealers and thieves, Trump’s Miss Universe Pageant has been dropped from Univision’s lineup and he’s been fired from NBC, on which he hosted Celebrity Apprentice. Never one to back down, the real estate mogul has decided to contest his dismissal, and is suing Univision for $500 million.
In a document posted to Instagram last night (June 30), Trump claims Univision does not have the right to sever its ties with his business or the Miss Universe pageant, and that it has violated an existing contract. Moreover, Trump used the statement as a means to stand his ground on his earlier, more inflammatory remarks.
“There is a high level of crime occurring in this country due to unchecked illegal immigration,” he wrote. “We have to remedy the situation and do it fast.”
Finally, he vowed that he will find a new Miss Universe yet.
“I want to tell these contestants that the show will go on and I will be in Baton Rounge on July 12 to support them.”
What do you think of The Donald’s course of action—does he have a case, or should he rethink his next move and just take his firings on the chin?
