Ellie Goulding May Sing the James Bond ‘Spectre’ Themeby Ali Szubiak | PopCrush
Ellie Goulding fueled rumors earlier today (July 28) that she’s involved with the new James Bond theme song for the series’ upcoming installment Spectre, after she posted a photo on Instagram of herself leaving Abbey Road Studios.
While a musician being photographed leaving one of the most famous music studios in the world might not seem particularly significant, many have noted that Adele recorded “Skyfall” there, and that was one of the most popular Bond songs of all time. Besides, Ellie’s long been linked to the project, especially after she tweeted “Live and let die” earlier this month, which is also the name of a 1973 Bond film.
There’s also the fact that Sam Smith offered Ellie’s name when deflecting from his own potential involvement with the Spectre soundtrack. He said (via the Guardian), “People seem to think I’m doing it but I have no idea what’s going on. I’m being deadly serious. I think I would know by now. I heard Ellie Goulding was going to do it, it’s definitely not me.”
Other artists who have been rumored to be in the running for the coveted track at one time or another have included Rita Ora, Lana Del Rey and Ed Sheeran, though Sheeran admitted (via the Independent), “I’d love to but I just wasn’t born with the James Bond voice. You never know, I’m not ruling it out, maybe in ten years time when my balls drop.”
Spectre is slated to hit theaters on November 6.
