Hulk Hogan’s Alleged Racism Is Ruining His Lifeby Ali Szubiak | PopCrush
A sex tape featuring Hulk Hogan unleashing a whole slew of racist remarks is reportedly ruining his life, but he’s very sorry about what he said.
According to TMZ, Hogan went on a malicious diatribe at the tail end of a sex tape, where he used some truly disturbing, racist language, in a rant referring to his daughter’s ex-boyfriend.
Hogan allegedly said, “I mean, I don’t have double standards. I mean, I am a racist, to a point, f–king n—ers…I mean I’d rather if she was going to f—k some n—er, I’d rather have her marry an 8-foot tall n—er worth a hundred million dollars! Like a basketball player.”
Hogan is suing gossip and news site Gawker for releasing the sex tape and apologized for his offensive language — after being wiped clean from the WWE’s website, that is. He said, “Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it.”
His apology continued, saying, “I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs. It is not who I am. I continue to work every day to improve as a person, and this matter is an important learning experience for me in that regard.”
Truthfully, Hogan’s statement would not be the worst celebrity apology ever issued, but any sincerity in his words is immediately canceled out when you pair it with the hateful, vitriolic transcript of what was reportedly said on tape. This isn’t even a case of too little too late, like it so often is with celebrity apologies. It’s hard to believe the language he used “is inconsistent with [his] own beliefs” when he literally says (perhaps, least offensively), “I am a racist.”
The WWE has disassociated itself from Hogan, removing him from the official website completely. While Hogan’s lawyer David Houston says he resigned from the organization, the WWE maintains that he was fired. They said (via PEOPLE), “WWE terminated its contract with Terry Bollea (a.k.a. Hulk Hogan). WWE is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide.”
Hogan has since posted a cryptic tweet about a storm and God and the Universe.
In the storm I release control,God and his Universe will sail me where he wants me to be,one love. HH
