Janet Jackson‘s highly anticipated Unbreakable Tour will go on, though a family emergency has left its planning stages a bit fractured.

According to People, Jackson’s father, Joe, suffered a stroke during his 87th birthday celebrations in Brazil on Saturday and, though Janet was entrenched in rehearsals, she dropped everything to be by his bedside.

The site says Joe is now okay, but the “No Sleeep” singer is nevertheless taking some time to see him through his recovery.

“To my family, friends, acquaintances and fans all over the world: I want to thank you all for your prayers, unwavering support and kind well wishes during these trying times,” Joe posted to his website after the incident. “God willing, I should be able to make a quick recovery and travel back home soon.”

Janet’s tour is slated to kick off next month in Canada and wind through the United States until a final stop in Hawaii in November.

In May, Janet triumphantly announced she had a new album in the works, the first material since 2008’s Discipline.

“This year: new music, new world tour, a new movement,” she announced in a video. “I’ve been listening. Let’s keep the conversation going.

Think Janet’s making the right choice to be by her father’s side for the time being? Send Joe your best, and tell us if you’re excited to see the legend on tour!
