Joan Rivers has died at 81, the Associated Press reports. Her daughter Melissa Rivers reportedly announced the news, according to the AP.

The ‘Fashion Police’ host had been hospitalized at Mt. Sinai in New York City since Aug. 28. Rivers was rushed to the hospital after she stopped breathing during a procedure on her vocal cords at a clinic.

The firecracker comedienne was in critical condition when she first arrived to the hospital, and was later put into a medically-induced coma and placed on life support. Melissa Rivers stated yesterday that her mother had been moved out of the intensive care unit and had been placed in a private room, where she was “resting comfortably.”

“I know my mother would be overwhelmed by the continued outpouring of kindness, and I want to thank everyone for keeping us in their prayers,” Melissa previously said in a statement.

Rivers, who had just released a new memoir, ‘Diary of a Mad Diva,’ first rose to prominence as a guest host on ‘The Tonight Show.’ She later became a prominent reality show staple, winning ‘Celebrity Apprentice,’ and starring in her own show with her daughter Melissa, called ‘Joan & Melissa Know Best.’ Rivers had hosted E!’s ‘Fashion Police’ since 2010.

R.I.P. Joan Rivers. Our thoughts are with her family and friends during this unimaginably difficult time.
