Celebrities React to Joan Rivers’ Death
by Thomas Chau | PopCrushThe entertainment world lost another legend today, as news had spread that Joan Rivers passed away today, Sept. 4, at the age of 81. Rivers had been hospitalized since Aug. 28 after she stopped breathing during a routine throat procedure.
Rivers was one of the last remaining comedians of the golden era and was still performing stand-up as late as the night before her hospitalization. She no doubt had a tremendous influence not only on female comediennes, but all comedians in general for her no-nonsense, unapologetic approach to comedy.
Several celebrities, including Ariana Grande, Lena Dunham, Anna Kendrick, Sarah Silverman, Ellen DeGeneres and more, took to various social media outlets to express their sadness upon hearing the news.
