Love’s A Grand Adventure in Josh Stevens’ ‘Hill Top’ Lyric Video [Premiere]

by | PopCrush

What do Meghan Trainor, Bruno Mars, Pharrell and One Republic’s Ryan Tedder have in common? They’re all highly-successful pop stars who got their start behind the scenes. Today we’re psyched to introduce you to a seasoned producer, songwriter and sound engineer who’s ready to share his own work with the world: Meet Josh Stevens.

Stevens has been honing his skills on Grammy, Billboard Award and Juno Award-nominated work for Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Steve Aoki and more. He toured internationally with LMFAO in 2011, and subsequently served as Sky Blu and LMFAO affiliate Goonrock’s personal producer, writer and A&R consultant. In the past two years he’s worked with rapper Warren G, and helped write and produce singles for not one but TWO America’s Next Top Model winners, Lisa D’Amato and Naima Mora. But his true passion project is his own upcoming EP, Story of Summer.

“Hill Top” is the debut single from the project, and it features vocals from Capital Cities’ Spencer Ludwig. The track is a pop-rock ode to loving with an open heart, pairing uplifting chords with a pledge to stand by your one-and-only: “From the top of the hill tops / I’m screaming out my lungs / That you’re the one worth fighting for / Worth dying for.” The lyric video boasts visuals that match the song’s solidly epic intentions, with shots of an open road, a jump into a waterfall and a heart-racing amusement park ride. Moving onward and upward, essentially.

“The essence of “Hill Top” is pure honesty through music and lyrics,” Stevens says. “Being a straightforward as possible…just raw emotion and energy.”

Check out the lyric video for “Hill Top” above, and stay tuned for the Story of Summer EP, which also features appearances from Matt McJunkins of A Perfect Circle and Foo Fighter’s Drew Hester.
