Five Things We Learned From Katy Perry’s Rolling Stone Interviewby Michelle McGahan | PopCrush
Katy Perry is straight-up ‘Prismatic’ on the cover of newest issue of Rolling Stone, rocking a swirly, psychedelic-style top, her “slime-green” locks and a bold fuschia lip. And it comes as no surprise that Perry is just as daring in the interview, opening up about racial criticism she’s received, wanting a baby and even being teased in high school.
Here are five things that we learned from her interview:
She loves her Katy Cats — but doesn’t think too highly of herself. “Some people are so dramatic about it, and you’re like, ‘Honestly, you’re not the Second Coming. You’re just an entertainer!'” she explained. “I’m very grateful for fans’ support, but I’m not thirsty or desperate.”
She wants a baby (at some point) … “I want to be [having a baby] in the right time. And that’s not in the next two years, you know? Maybe it’s in the five-year plan, but I really need to be able to focus 100 percent of my attention on it,” she said. “I don’t really want to take the child on tour. Not until like, birth through five is over.”
… And doesn’t need a man in her life to make that happen. “I don’t need a dude. I mean, Neil [Patrick Harris] and David [Burkta], their twins are beautiful. It’s 2014! We are living in the future; we don’t need anything. … I’m not anti-men. I love men. But there is an option if someone doesn’t present himself.”
She may have been referred to as a bra in high school. “I’m the class clown’s assistant,” she recalled of her high school years. “That’s what I was in high school. I mean, they called me the ‘over-the-shoulder-boulder-boulder,’ and I wasn’t that cute.”
Literally, she looked like a geometrical shape. “I looked like a square — a rectangle, actually — because I was going through my awkward teenage phase,” she revealed. Kathy Beth Terry, is that you?
