Lana Del Rey Brings Out the Big Gun In Her ‘High By The Beach’ Video

by | PopCrush

Lana Del Rey has released the video for Honeymoon single “High By The Beach,” and it’s as gorgeous as the song is.

The clip finds Lana hiding from paparazzi in a near-empty beach house, letting the ocean breeze billow through her Old Hollywood-style loungewear. As she languidly rolls around a mattress on the floor and pages through a tabloid while drinking pour-over coffee, she does seem like she may be in weed-induced daze. But as she unearths a guitar case hidden in nearby rocks and moves back into the house with purpose, it’s clear that she’s hatched a plan. Spoiler alert: That case doesn’t hold a musical instrument.

Lana recently spoke to Apple Beats’ Zane Lowe about making the ethereal-yet-lyrically searing single. “It started with the chorus. I was driving by the beach a lot and this was probably one of the last ones on the record. I like that all of the chorus, melodies, all the harmonies, kind of had an Andrews Sisters vibe — it was like a six-part harmony. Even with the harmonies it almost sounded monotone, so it had this weird drone to it. But then with the beat it kind of had like a trap influence.”
