Rick Ross Arrested for Kidnapping and Alleged Pistol-Whippingby Samantha Vincenty | PopCrush
Rick Ross and his bodyguard were arrested in Georgia this morning (June 24). The rapper, born William Leonard Roberts II, has been charged with allegations of less-than-Bawse conduct: Kidnapping, aggravated battery and aggravated assault.
A statement from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office describes the events as follows: “On June 7, 2015 the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation regarding an assault which occurred at a residence on Highway 279 in Fayetteville, Ga. The investigation revealed William Roberts and Nadrian James as suspects responsible for the assault.”
It continues, “On June 24, 2015 members of the U.S. Marshalls Southeast Regional Task Force executed arrest warrants on William Roberts and Nadrian James. They were arrested in Fayetteville, Georgia without incident as a result of this investigation.”
As CBS reports, Ross was just arrested on June 10 for a traffic violation and possession of marijuana. He was released for the misdemeanor, but he and James are currently being held in Georgia on the latest charges.
Ross’s previous run-ins with the law include marijuana possession and firearm charges in 2008, another a misdemeanor marijuana charge in 2011, and another marijuana-related charge in 2013 in Greensboro, N.C.
What’s perhaps more interesting is the Smoking Gun‘s evidence that Ross once worked as a correctional officer for a year and a half. And of course, Ross’ criminal activities pale in comparison to the man who inspired his alias, reformed L.A. drug trafficker “Freeway” Rick Ross. The real Rick Ross sued the rapper for copyright infringement, but lost in 2013.
