Robin Williams Dies at Age 63 – Celebrities React
by Mandi Salerno | PopCrushBeloved comedian and actor Robin Williams died this morning (Aug. 11) at age 63, his publicist confirmed. There are reports that the cause of death is suicide, but there has been no official confirmation from his camp.
“Robin Williams passed away this morning,” his publicist’s statement said (via Entertainment Weekly). “He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”
EW also reported that the Marin County Coroner’s office claimed the sheriff’s office suspects the death can be attributed to “suicide due to asphyxiation.”
Despite his recent struggle with sobriety, Williams has been busy filming and reprising some of his most well-known characters. He’ll star onscreen in his recurring role of Theodore Roosevelt in the third film of the ‘Night at the Museum’ series this December. He was also said to have started working on a sequel for ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ alongside director Chris Columbus earlier this year.
Celebrities are turning to social media to mourn the death of the comedic icon, posting their condolences and favorite memories of the actor.
