Rose McGowan Says She Was Fired By Agent For Telling a Hollywood Truth
by Matthew Scott Donnelly | PopCrushHollywood apology tours are all the rage these days (you needn’t look further back than Caitlyn Jenner’s coming out for evidence…), but you’re not gonna get a hint of contrition from Rose McGowan.
The actress-turned-director, who recently released short film Dawn, made waves last week when she tweeted a casting note for an Adam Sandler production with some seemingly sexist undertones (“push up bras encouraged”). You can see it below.

Well, McGowan’s agent didn’t take too kindly to the public bashing, and in a single tweet yesterday (June 25), the former Charmed star said she’d been dropped…not that she minds that much.
“I just got fired by my wussy acting agent because I spoke up about the bullsh– in Hollywood. Hahaha. #douchebags #awesome #BRINGIT” McGowan wrote. And she didn’t stop there.
“The awesome thing about being an artist? You can’t be fired from your own mind. #FREEDOM” she concluded. Call us disciples, because this hits like a straight-up sermon.
In an interview with Gawker that ran yesterday, McGowan posed similar thoughts, and said—after five years on a hit TV show—she quickly became disillusioned with serving as a sought-after actress. She’s committed to forging her own path as a filmmaker, instead.
“I realized that all of these rules that are put down for us, they’re all illusions,” she said. They’re not there. I’m not saying, ‘F– you’ to the rules, the rules simply don’t exist.”
