Selena Gomez Asked to Address ‘Bad Blood’ Rumorsby Matthew Scott Donnelly | PopCrush
Be warned, judiciaries far and wide: Selena Gomez is unflinching in a court of law (or its Bravo equivalent).
On last night’s (October 18) Watch What Happens Live, Gomez was dragged through the mud as part of the show’s latest “Plead the Fifth” installment. The game has made grown men crumble, but right from the get-go, Gomez proved she wasn’t one to be intimidated.
Show host Andy Cohen wasted no time trying to throw the pop star off-balance when he asked if Taylor Swift‘s “Bad Blood,” the video for which stars Gomez as Swift’s nemesis, is about Katy Perry. And, without skipping a beat, or telegraphing a shred of an emotional response, Gomez invoked her right to stay silent instantaneously. It was so precise, it was almost scary.
And on the topic of Swift, Gomez insisted the 1989 singer has nothing to do with any potential rift that’s formed between the “Good For You” singer and Demi Lovato.
“Absolutely not,” she offered succinctly.
Last week, as part of GQ‘s November cover story, Swift tried to backpedal on previous comments that “Bad Blood” was about a friend, and said she’d only offered that theory to protect an ex-boyfriend—its actual target.
“You’re in a Rolling Stone interview, and the writer says, ‘Who is that song about?’” she considered. “That sounds like a really intense moment from your life.’ And you sit there, and you know you’re on good terms with your ex-boyfriend, and you don’t want him—or his family—to think you’re firing shots at him. So you say, ‘That was about losing a friend.’ And that’s basically all you say.”
