A Battered Shawn Mendes Releases A New And Improved ‘Stitches’ Video

by | PopCrush

Failing to find a retailer who validates is now the second-worst thing that can happen to you in a parking garage.

Shawn Mendes, who already released a video for “Stitches” in March (you can see the inaugural, lighthearted version below), has decided to up the ante with an aggressive, bloody update. The new clip finds him fending off ghostly attacks that knock him to the ground, through cement walls and car windows. WHERE IS THE ATTENDANT?!

You watch me bleed until I can’t breathe / I’m shaking, falling onto my knees / And now that I’m without your kisses / I’ll be needing stitches,” he pleads as he struggles to keep his balance between cement columns and illuminated exit signs. Yet another argument made in favor of taking public transit…

Finally, Mendes finds a respite from the airstrikes while washing his face off in a nearby bathroom sink, but it’s probably only a matter of time before he’s careening into a light fixture or elevator door.

“Stitches” is the third single off of the young artist’s debut album, Handwritten, which debuted atop the Billboard charts in April. “Life of the Party,” the LP’s first single, was Mendes’ first official Top 40 hit when it was released in July 2014.

What do you think of the new video? Is it a cut above the first version? Watch ’em both, and sound off.
