Sia Drops Audio For ‘One Million Bullets,’ Third Track Off ‘This Is Acting’by Erica Russell | PopCrush
The promotional machine for Sia‘s forthcoming seventh studio album, This Is Acting, has been in full swing for weeks.
Back in September, the Australian singer-songwriter released the album’s lead single, “Alive,” prefacing its release with the fact that it had originally been written for Adele. A music video was also released, featuring a little girl engaged in a sort of karate-choreographed dance. On November 4, promotional single “Bird Set Free,” another song that had been pitched to Adele, was released along with the album’s pre-order. And on November 7, Sia performed the two tracks during her musical gig on Saturday Night Live, an episode which was heavily hyped due to its polarizing host, Donald Trump.
While we continue to creep towards the record’s anticipated January 29, 2016 release date, a third track off the album has been dropped in order to satiate fans.
The audio for the song, titled “One Million Bullets,” was released on YouTube today. In true Sia style, the track is a signature mid-tempo, ballad-style declaration of heartbreak, the artist exploring themes of undying love and sacrifice, Sia singing, “I pick the wrong kind, time after time / I drank from the poisoned wine… / I know that I’d take one million bullets babe / How many would you take?” (We wonder if she’s referring to the same bullets that ricocheted in David Guetta’s “Titanium.”)
Sia has previously revealed that This Is Acting, which is due out early next year, will be “more pop” than previous albums, and that all the songs featured on the record are actually tracks that were originally written for other artists in mind—hence the record’s title.
