The Backstreet Boys Documentary Headed to Theaters in Mayby Michelle McGahan | PopCrush
Exciting news, Backstreet Boys fans: The band’s documentary, Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of, will hit select theaters nationwide on May 13!
“The cinema event will give fans a retrospective look into the lives and careers of band members Nick Carter, AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson, Howie Dorough and Brian Littrell, as well as a never-before-seen acoustic set from London that spotlights the depth of the band’s talent,” the press release reads. For a list of participating theaters — there are over 400! — and to purchase tickets to the screening of your choice, head on over to FathomEvents.com.
In case you haven’t watched the doc since it came out on Jan. 30 (and as a self-respecting BSB fan, we know that you probably already have), the movie offers an in-depth look at the inner-workings of the band for the past 20 years, through painful addictions, numerous albums, childhood strife and Kevin’s temporary departure.
We even got to speak to Howie D about the film, who told us that the most emotional part of the documentary was visiting each Backstreet Boy’s hometown.
“It was quite educational … to be able to understand and appreciate even more so where each of us came from. We always talked about it to each other — ‘Oh, I did this growing up’ — but to actually see it, and feel like you’re living there for the moment, I think it was a bonding experience for us,” he told PopCrush exclusively. “Going to Kevin’s hometown, I could feel what Kevin went through with his father passing away there. Even the weather being a little chilly just made you feel the darkness, the sadness that he probably went through. Going with Nick to his hometown and seeing the rough area where he lived, you can understand why he picks to live it the way he does, and some of the things that I never really understood or possibly took for granted.”
Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of hits select theaters nationwide on May 13 at 7 PM.
