Selena Gomez, Missy Elliott Join Upcoming ‘Voice’ Season as Mentorsby Matthew Scott Donnelly | PopCrush
If you want to know what it takes to be a star, you might as well hear it from the horse’s mouth, and The Voice has provided its next batch of contestants with some real prizewinning breeds.
The upcoming ninth season, which will premiere in the fall, has tapped “Good For You” singer Selena Gomez and 2015 Super Bowl halftime show-stealer Missy Elliott as mentors, Us Weekly has reported. The former will help out Gwen Stefani‘s group of aspiring performers, while the latter will be Pharrell‘s right-hand woman, and the site says Gomez has passed with flying colors as a mentor in spite of her young age.
Meanwhile, Adam Levine will look to former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman and guitar legend John Fogerty—with whom he performed during last season’s finale—to be his team’s mentor, while Blake Shelton will get the help of fellow country star Brad Paisley as he looks to nab another win.
Meghan Trainor, Alicia Keys and Ellie Goulding have all served as mentors along the show’s recent seasons. Pharrell’s 16-year-old contestant Sawyer Fredericks was deemed Season 8 champion in the spring after performing tunes like “I am a Man of Constant Sorrow” and “Simple Man.”
