William Shatner Set To Captain The First Official ‘Star Trek’ Cruiseby Erica Russell | PopCrush
Park the Enterprise at the space station, crew—it looks like Captain Kirk is gearing up to captain a new ship.
To the absolute delight of Trekkies everywhere, it’s been announced that William Shatner—of Star Trek and Priceline Negotiator fame (I know you just did the jingle in your head when you read that)—will be hosting the first ever Star Trek cruise, come 2017. Shatner (a.k.a. the original James T. Kirk) will be headlining the six day, six night cruise aboard the Norwegian Pearl in celebration of the iconic sci-fi franchise’s 50th anniversary.
The official cruise will set sail out of Miami, and the ship will voyage to both Mexico and the Bahamas. Passengers aboard the Norwegian Pearl will be treated to an assortment of themed events and entertainment, including but not limited to comedy shows, performances, themed parties and activities, concerts, and Star Trek-related expert talks and panels.
In an official statement, Shatner shared, “I am excited to be the host of Star Trek: The Cruise. When I was told that this was the first authorized Star Trek cruise and part of the 50th anniversary celebration, I just knew that my participation would be something that our fans would enjoy. It should be a lot of fun.”
As of now, fellow Star Trek cast mates/crew members Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi), Jonathan Frakes (Captain William Riker), Robert Picardo (Dr. Lewis Zimmerman), James Darren (Vic Fontaine), Denise Crosby (Lieutenant Tasha Yar), and John de Lancie (Q) will be joining Shatner aboard the cruise.
